Club Meeting Reports
As this week was an off meeting there was no set topic so Colin began by mentioning the recent problems he had experienced with his heater in the shed which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some of his fish. Ernie has his shed back up and running after solving the mystery of his high electric bill which turned out to be a faulty thermostat inside his house and not the shed after all!
A general chat was then had with some good humour before the meeting took a break for refreshments before members heading out into the arctic conditions.
Next week is Table Show No 3
The upcoming meal night at Tony Macaroni still has spaces available and the sheet for the bus trip will be going up shortly with the same shops as last year.
As this week was an off meeting there was no set topic but most of the discussion centered around the future of the USA and the direction that Kirkcaldy Aquarist Society would go in with regards to a governing body.

This week was the KAS presentation night and after President Colin had welcomed everyone John Reid presented the laminated certificates to the winners and runners up from each of the classes the Jimmy Gilbert quaich was then presented to Gordon McLeod for his winning Ambastaia sidimunki.
This week saw the first table show of the year and President gave an update on the club meeting rooms with it being confirmed the club will not be able to return to our former premises at Junction Road. As yet the council aside from allowing the club to rent a room at Templehall Community Center have offered little in the way of a more secure long term meeting room. Brian suggested Colin speak to the local councilor in an attempt to get the council to actually do something with regards to a new club room, Colin has now done this and will keep members updated with any progress. Colin also mentioned the club shop and reminded people that asking club members to buy items from outside the club and bring them in really doesn’t benefit the club in anyway.
Once all the entries had been booked in the judges were given the nod to commence judging and members had the chance to have a chat on a number of subjects including Ernie’s fish shed and Brian’s new behemoth of a marine tank. Members also discussed the recent KAS meal night and the enjoyable food and high brow conversation had by all.
Best fish on the night was a Ambastaia sidthimunki bought in by Gordon McLeod and the judges were Ken Young and John Reid and our thanks go to them for judging and to those who showed. It was pleasing to again see entries in the junior category and it is hoped this continues.
The meeting then broke for refreshments and the drawing of the raffle.
President Colin welcomed members to this weeks meeting and began by mentioning the latest KAS meal night at Sweet Chesnut in Dunfermline which proved a great success with everyone who attended enjoying some good food and chat.
This week was a talk by Colin with assistance from Brian H on their fish sheds and looked at the methods of construction, the rationale behind design decisions and issues and how they were overcome, the talk was well received with members asking questions and enjoying seeing yet more members building fish sheds. It is great to see so many club members running sheds successfully and keeping all their fish alive.
Joe then read out the minutes of the last AGM which were proposed and seconded. Jim then gave a brief impression of the club finances but will provide a more detailed report shortly. Discussion then turned to the current lack of a permanent home Colin will continue to pursue this.
A discussion was then had on revamping the criteria for a family membership and it was agreed changes would be made meaning children on the family membership do not have to reside at the address. The bus trip was discussed but no firm decisions were reached and this subject will be revisited.
A general discussion was then had with members having the chance to input on all the subjects discussed the meeting then broke for refreshments and the raffle. Next week is an off meeting.
