All posts for the month June, 2013

President Colin welcomed the attending members to the meeting and quickly recapped the current club business. The assistant open show manager role is now filled and the committee welcomes Brian Stark to its ranks the canteen managed remains vacant. Joe reported there are still a couple of polo shirts awaiting collection.

The club was lucky enough to have the ever popular Ian Moncur who gave an informative talk on his recent diving and snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef. This interesting talk covered subjects such as preservation of the reef itself as well as the amazing range of both fish and corals that could be seen. As always Ian gave an interesting talk and all at KAS thank him for coming.

After the talk Ian took questions and the meeting broke for refreshments and the drawing of the raffle. Members Are reminded it is the USA auction on the 30th of the month at the AK Bell library in Perth.

President Colin welcomed members and opened the meeting by presenting Brian and Melanie with a gift of some Rose Champagne and Glasses to celebrate their recent wedding in Mexico the gift was gratefully and surprised the couple who would like to thank everyone at KAS for this kind gesture.

Colin reminded members that the list for the bus trip is up and that the Canteen Manager and Assistant Open Show Manager posts are still to be filled. Joe mentioned there are still some KAS polo shirts to be paid for and picked up.

As it was an off meeting this week a more general discussion was had following on from last week regarding judging and the procedures as well as some questions about how the judges go about judging the fish and what to do in the event of a query regarding judging, members were advised that in the event of a query it is always best to speak to the judge privately on the night as it’s difficult to remember details the following weeks.

The Union of Scottish Aquarists Open Show and Auction takes place on Sunday 30th June and members were asked to put themselves forward to help on the day ,and if possible to  donate food for the canteen and raffle prizes as well as being made aware of the changes to the classes in the schedule..

After a good long chat the meeting broke for refreshments and the raffle. Next week is a talk on Scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef and Corals.

Here is John being presented with his Supreme breeding certificate and Rab being presented with his Masters certifcate. Congratulations to them both especially to John who becomes the first KAS member to achieve the tough challenge of the Supreme certificate.

Apologies for the late posting of these I did not check my email much on holiday so I missed the email with the pics from Joe and it got swallowed up in the spam and I only saw it today when I was cleaning my inbox out.
