President Colin welcomed members to table show no 3 and mentioned that this week was the last chance for people to add their names to the meal night at Foxton’s in Glenrothes on Saturday. The sheet for the bus trip is also now up and names can be added although until paid for seats are not guarenteed. Colin again thanked members for their efforts at the Open show and auction just gone and reported that it had been successful beating last years total by approx £100.
With all the club business taken care of the judges Jill Dewar and Eric Jones were given the nod to commence judging Colin mentioned that he had been approached by some individuals who would like to set up a Scottish Discus show and that he Joe and Brian had had a brief conversation with one of them at the Open Show. A number of opinions were expressed from the very keen to the very sceptical and it was agreed that before any practical assistance or association could take place a meeting would need to be organised and the interested parties would need to work on identifying exactly what they are looking to do and achieve.
As this discussion went on for quite some time it was soon time for the judges to announce the winners there were nearly 30 entries from 4 Exhibitors with the best fish being a Ambastaia sidimunki shown by Gordon McLeod which was indeed a cracking fish and a worthy winner.
President Colin welcomed members to the the meeting and thanked everyone who had helped the previous day at the KAS open show and auction which was a great success and seems set to have exceeded the previous year in sales.
The sheets are now up for the bus trip and the next KAS meal and members are invited to add there names if they are interested. Colin then asked members what they had shown and what they had purchased. A more general chat was then had about what went well and what could possibly be improved with the general feedback being that it had gone very well if a little long. A report on the show and pictures will be added to the website as soon as time allows.
Next week is table show no 4 and it would be great if the recent trend in newer members showing continues giving more variety and competition to many of the classes !
President Colin welcomed members to what was a busy meeting member wise with a great turnout and ran through the current club business a sheet for the next KAS meal will be going up for those interested and the bus trip sheet will also be going up soon.
The volunteer list for the open show and auction went up with a recap of roles and more names added, members are reminded that events such as these only succeed due to the efforts of members and it is not fair for all the work to fall on those who volunteer. It would be appreciated if members could get along to the hall as early on the day as possible to assist with any setting up still required.
Donations for the raffle and especially home baking and filled rolls (Clinged and labelled please) would be gratefully received. Doors open 10am along with booking in of lots and the canteen with judging and the auction itself commencing at 12:30 Please come along everyone is welcome. Going by previous years it’s sure to be a good auction with a mix of the bread and butter as well as the more unusual and wild caught fish there is usually something for everyone.
